The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, announced today at Teruel Airport a €42 million investment for the creation of the Comprehensive Training and Mobility Center for the Air Force and Space Force. This is a significant investment in technology and innovation, which will have a significant impact on the region.

This project, whose construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, emphasizes institutional cooperation to achieve economic progress, territorial integration, and job creation, expected to create 350 jobs. This center will provide essential, priority training for pilots and personnel involved in air and transport deployments, the deployment of short-range units, and the flight of UAS drones, as well as establishing landing zones for crew training, demonstrating that "our Armed Forces are a source of pride and an example wherever they are needed," said Robles.

The Minister of Defense thanks the Government of Aragon, which has a close relationship with the Armed Forces, and Teruel for their joint work over the years.

Technical aspects, such as aeronautical aspects, safety, availability of facilities, and service provision, in addition to its favorable climate and low air traffic density, were key factors in the final decision to choose Teruel as the location for this new strategic center.

In addition to strengthening instruction and training in high-precision air operations, the center will also be able to integrate new dual technologies and optimize interoperability with our European and NATO allies.

The need for multi-domain operations makes the creation of CIEMA a decisive step in strengthening the Armed Forces' new operational capabilities.

The Minister of Defense and the Secretary of State for Defense, Amparo Valcarce, emphasized the importance of investing in defense so that the Armed Forces have the best training.

The presentation of this project was attended by the Vice President of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquero; the Minister of Development, Housing, Logistics, and Territorial Cohesion, Octavio López; the Mayor of Teruel, Emma Buj; and other institutional representatives.

The Director General of Teruel Airport, Alejandro Ibrahim, welcomed the Minister of Defense on the aircraft parking apron and accompanied her throughout the visit. He praised "the joint work with the Ministry of Defense for the development of improved technological and innovative capabilities for aeronautical defense training, which once again position Teruel as a global leader in the aeronautical sector."
