The concession of the aerospace zone of the Teruel airport begins

On July 24, 2023, the concession contract and the delivery certificate for the space zone at the Teruel airport were signed with the company PLD Space, among the representatives, the General Director of the Teruel Airport Consortium, Alejandro Ibrahim Perera, and the CEO of PLD Space, Raúl Torres.

Since 2014, the complete rocket and its MIURA1 engine have been tested, being a strategic location for the development of space technology since it is necessary to carry out a validation and verification of all the elements before launch.

The specifications for the tender for the concession were published on February 9, 2023 in the Contractor Profile of the Government of Aragon and an annual fee of 425,253.50 euros per year (without VAT) was established with a duration of 25 and extendable for 10 more years.

By Resolution of June 30, 2023 of the Management of the Teruel Airport Consortium, the company PLD Space is awarded to carry out aerospace activities. The initial annual fee to be paid by the concessionaire company will be 425,253.50 euros per year plus the corresponding VAT.

This new spatial area is located to the west of the current field and multiplies by ten the space of land currently available to the company PLD Space and will allow it to increase business figures and the creation of more than 20 additional jobs, being the infrastructure Leading terrestrial space utility in the aerospace industry by enabling pre-launch testing of rocket motors and rocket systems.

Teruel Airport is executing the perimeter fencing in the aerospace area, which was published in the contractor's profile with a budget of 223,335.19 euros, VAT excluded. The project was approved on April 20, 2023. The company EMIPESA has been required, in advance, the required documentation prior to the award with an offer of 216,523.47 euros (VAT excluded). The company has offered an additional guarantee over the one required in the specification of five (5) years plus the two (2) of the Specification, leaving a total of seven (7) years. The expected execution period is 4 months once the rethinking act is carried out.
