Teruel Airport continues its growth through 2025, and for this reason, the concession for the reception, storage, supply, unloading, and sale of aircraft fuel and lubricants has been published on the Public Sector Procurement Platform.
This is a recurring service already provided at the airport facilities for the supply of fuel for air transport. The current concession expires after seven years, and is therefore being put out to tender again to continue offering this service, which is in high demand by airlines.
To this end, the new concession will last seven years and is scheduled to begin service in January 2026. The concession fee varies according to the monthly quantity supplied, and it will offer the supply and unloading service of both JET A1 and AVGAS.
The facility currently consists of:
- Three horizontal, single-wall tanks with a maximum capacity of 80 m3, for the storage of JET-A1.
- One horizontal, single-wall tank with a maximum capacity of 15 m3, aboveground, for the storage of AVGAS 100LL.
- A concrete platform near the fuel tank area.
The main changes compared to the previous tender are:
- Teruel Airport has committed to the concessionaire supplying sustainable synthetic aviation fuel (SAF) upon request from operators. This is one of the airport's commitments to promoting greener fuel as part of its environmental stewardship.
- The successful bidder will carry out a capacity expansion project at the chemical product storage facility, APQ. One of the highlights of this project is the expansion of the 15 m3 tank to a new 80 m3 tank, thus increasing fuel storage capacity.
On the other hand, regarding the ongoing works at the Airport, we highlight the construction of the hangar and production facility, which began in February 2025 and is currently in the earthworks phase. The Phase V parking lot expansion will increase aircraft storage capacity in the new PIGA area.
The Phase III apron expansion is complete, pending pavement paint inspection. It is scheduled to open in the coming months. The terminal building expansion is scheduled to begin in June 2025, and has been awarded to the Trauxia-Ideconsa joint venture.
