Teruel, June 4, 2026 – Air bp has won the tender to extend its aviation fuel supply concession at Teruel Airport for seven years. Air bp, bp's aviation division serving 650 locations in more than 40 countries, will also invest in upgrading the facilities, aiming to increase total storage capacity to 320 m³.
Teruel Airport is the largest aviation industrial hub in Europe. The location of bp's refinery in Castellón, just 160 kilometers away, provides a logistical advantage. The airport specializes in aircraft storage, maintenance, painting, and recycling. Its dry climate and extensive infrastructure make it an ideal location for long-term parking and cutting-edge aerospace initiatives.
"bp has been a partner of Teruel Airport since it began operations more than a decade ago. This new agreement reflects the strength of our relationship. We are proud to continue ensuring a reliable and high-quality supply to a growing aviation hub," said Elida Cavic, Vice President for Southern Europe, India, the Middle East, and Africa at Air bp.
The General Manager of Teruel Airport, Alejandro Ibrahim, stated: "It is an honor to have bp Spain at Teruel Airport. The seven-year concession will bring stability, investment, and an essential aviation fuel supply service. Their work is key to the operation of both large aircraft and general aviation. This collaboration reinforces the airport's position as a global leader in the sector."
Air bp has successfully managed this concession since 2015, a period in which Teruel Airport has established itself as a leading logistics hub in Europe.
Currently, the airport is undergoing an expansion to reach up to 400 parking positions—with new hangars, a vertiport for air taxis, and advanced aerospace testing facilities—and plans to double its workforce to over 900 direct jobs by 2027.
Additionally, the airport has announced that it will launch its new stratospheric airship hangar in the first quarter of 2027, a unique strategic infrastructure in Europe that reinforces its position as an international leader in the aerospace sector.
