Teruel Airport receives the 2026 'Marca Aragón' Award

The Teruel Airport Consortium received the "Marca Aragón" (Aragon Brand) award during the second edition of the Marca Aragón 2026 Awards, held in Zaragoza on November 5, 2026. The award was accepted by Alejandro Ibrahim, Director General of Teruel Airport. The accolade—promoted by CEOE Aragón in collaboration with ANAGAN—recognizes the airport's track record, its capacity for reinvention, and the competitiveness of its facilities. The awards ceremony took place at the Ibercaja "Espacio Xplora" venue in Zaragoza.

The recognition highlights the role Teruel Airport has played in the region over the years, successfully establishing an industrial project of European scale that generates a significant economic and social impact within the province. Furthermore, it serves as an outstanding example of how the region of Aragon can transform public infrastructure into an industrial project with an international reach—one capable of creating jobs, attracting investment, and positioning the autonomous community within strategic, future-oriented sectors.

Other notable aspects of the airport:

- Disruptive innovation and differentiation: Beyond established aeronautical activities, the scope has expanded to include aircraft recycling, technological testing, drones, stratospheric platforms, and aerospace projects. This diversification strengthens overall capabilities. Teruel Airport has transformed a region traditionally removed from the aeronautical sector into a unique technological and industrial hub in Southern Europe, employing an innovative business model that repurposes infrastructure to meet the global demands of modern aviation and the space sector.

- Socioeconomic impact and regional development: With approximately 1,000 employees and over 15 companies established by 2026, the airport contributes to the creation of skilled jobs, the attraction of talent, and the retention of the local population. It demonstrates that innovation and advanced industry can indeed flourish in the province of Teruel. The airport's operations generate highly skilled employment, invigorate the industrial fabric of the province, and contribute directly to the economic diversification and social cohesion of the Autonomous Community.
- Sustainability and local commitment: The Teruel Airport Consortium—spearheaded by public institutions in Aragon—exemplifies how institutional cooperation and results-oriented management can create lasting economic and technological opportunities.

- International reach: The airport places Aragon on the global aerospace industry map, attracting international operators and talent, while fostering an image of a modern, competitive region at the forefront of technological advancement. Its operations and the companies based there serve a global market, engaging with clients and operators from various countries.

In addition to the entity from Teruel, the organization recognized two other regional firms that stand out for their international focus and originality: CINTASA—which designs and manufactures conveyor belts—received the "Brand with International Reach" (Marca Proyección Exterior) award; Morro Fino was named "Breakthrough Brand" (Marca Revelación); and the Rey Ardid Foundation (Fundación Rey Ardid) received a special mention as a "Healthy Brand" (Marca Saludable) company.

The event opened with remarks from Carmen Pardo, Director of Business and Institutions at Ibercaja, and Alberto Sainz, President of Anagan. This was followed by a presentation on "brands under the algorithm" by Tamara Piroj-Kova, representing the Leading Brands of Spain Forum (Foro de Marcas Renombradas de España), as well as a brief discussion between Yolanda Gil and Nacho Simavilla. The event concluded with a closing address by Benito Tesier, President of CEOE Aragón, who thanked the companies for their commitment to business development and for recognizing the "Aragón Brand" (Marca Aragón) as a valuable asset that drives business improvement.
