As of today, Teruel Airport has 160 new parking spaces for employees who come to work on a daily basis. This is a project whose tender was approved by the Governing Council of the Airport Consortium in December 2023, given the growing number of people who carry out their professional work in this complex and which was designed with environmental sustainability criteria, including the installation of canopies equipped with photovoltaic panels that provide 400 kW, a power that is added to the 600 kW generated by the panels installed previously. In addition, six spaces have been created for recharging electric vehicles. These works began in May and have been carried out within five months by the company IMESAPI for an amount of 791,491.69 euros (VAT excluded). Furthermore, the Governing Council held today has given the green light to the extension of the main building of the airport, with the aim of having a larger office area, in line with the growth of the airport itself and the needs for human resources and space that the increase in activity requires. The tender is being put out for a construction addition to the current general services building, which will have two floors: on the ground floor there will be an area prepared for the installation of a catering service with a large dining area, and on the upper floor there will be new offices and a meeting room. The tender amount will be 1,608,940.10 euros (VAT excluded) and the execution period will be one year.
After the meeting of the Governing Council and the inauguration of the new car park, Octavio López visited the new Elson Space warehouse, dedicated to the construction of HAPS fixed-wing aircraft, where 15 people work, a figure that is expected to reach 50 in the next two years, a period in which they plan to carry out stratospheric flights that are currently in the testing phase.
WORKS IN PROGRESS
Currently, Teruel Airport is undergoing various extension works, the status of which is as follows:
• The extension of the parking area, Phase V, is in the earthmoving and levelling phase of the area where the work is to be carried out. This work is being carried out by the UTE EXCAVACIONES HNOS. DE PABLO S.L-VIALEX CONSTRUCTORA ARAGONESA S.L.-EMIPESA S.A for an amount of 12,080,179.87 euros (VAT excluded) and a period of execution of 15 months.
• Another work being carried out is the paving of the parking platform, Phase III, awarded to the UTE TRAUXIA S.A.-INDUSTRIA DE SERVICIOS IDESER S.A.U. for an amount of 2,017,724.52 euros (VAT excluded) and a period of execution of 6 months. Its completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
• Regarding the work on the hangar and production facility for stratospheric airships, the contracting committee proposed the UTE, ALDESA CONSTRUCCIONES S.A. and INDUSTRIA DE INFRAESTRUCTURAS IDECONSA S.L. as the successful bidder to the contracting body for an amount of 39,774,382.68 euros (VAT excluded) and a term of execution of 20 months. It is currently in the awarding phase, with the same expected to take place during this month of November, so that the execution of the work can begin in January 2025.
• In addition, at the beginning of November, the tender for the flight procedure design service at Teruel Airport was published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform. This service consists of the development of flight design procedures and/or airspace structures (data acquisition, validation and verification, user consultation, design form and design review) for the subsequent implementation of instrument approach manoeuvres. The tender budget is 500,000 euros (VAT excluded) and an execution period of 2 years. The tender submission phase ends on 13 December 2024.
