During 2024, Teruel Airport established itself as a European benchmark in aeronautical and industrial innovation, with several significant works and advances:
Infrastructure Expansion
1. New Tarmac Aerosave Hangar
- Opening of an 8,000 m² hangar, the company's fourth at the airport, built by Tarmac.
- Capacity to accommodate large aircraft such as the Airbus A380.
- Strengthens the maintenance activity of large aircraft
- Construction competition for the terminal expansion of 1.6 million euros (excluding VAT) to double the terminal's capacity to adapt it to the increase in activity.
3. New Parking Spaces
- Construction of a parking lot with capacity for 160 vehicles.
- Equipped with solar panel covers that generate 400 kW of renewable energy.
4. Aircraft Parking Lot and Platform
- Expansion of the Phase V lot to increase aircraft storage capacity and expansion of the parking platform.
5. Warehouse concessions
- The 5,000 m2 warehouse has been granted to Airbus for aeronautical storage
- The 1,500 m2 warehouse in the southern area has been granted to the company Elson Space Spain for the construction of HAPS fixed-wing aircraft.
6. Concession of aircraft recycling area
- AIR has been granted an area of 80,000 m2 in the new PIGA for aircraft recycling with a planned investment of 21 million euros.
7. Start of aircraft painting activity
- IAC, with around 85 employees, started its aircraft painting activity in February 2024.
8. Land concession for paint hangar
- It is planned to grant IAC a 9,000 m2 area for the planned investment of 20 million for a new paint hangar.
9. Start of work on the hangar and production facility
- The contract has been signed with the UTE ALDESA CONSTRUCCIONES S.A. and INDUSTRIA DE INFRAESTRUCTURAS IDECONSA S.L. for the execution of the largest work at the airport for a hangar and production facility for airships with a budget of approximately 40 million euros (excluding VAT).
10. Start of instrument flight procedures
- The service tender for the design of instrument flight procedures at the airport has been published
Strategic Projects and Sustainability
1. Urban Air Mobility (CIMAU)
- Development of a modular vertiport for electric air taxis in collaboration with Vertiports Network.
- Positions the airport as a pioneer in sustainable air mobility in Spain.
2. Sustainable Fuel Production (SAF)
- Investment of 1.15 billion euros by Solarig to build a SAF plant.
- It is expected to produce 75,000 tons of green aviation fuel per year.
Financing and Institutional Support
1. Teruel Investment Fund (FITE) 2024
- A contribution of 7 million euros for infrastructure projects, such as a hangar for airships and the expansion of operational spaces.
Recognitions and Awards
- Golden Wings Award 2024 to the general director Alejandro Ibrahim for his leadership in the development of the airport as a global aeronautical hub.

- Renewal of the RSA + 2025 Seal and the Aragón Circular Seal
