PROJECT

PLATA is designed to be a new, exclusive industrial aeronautical platform that boasts unique features.

PLATA, is conceived with the purpose of offering a solution to the necessary environmental reconversion of the aeronautical sector in Europe, creating a new area of activity aimed at general aeronautical services, specialising in maintenance and long-term parking for aircraft.

The platform installations currently undergoing work which will finish in the year 2010, cover an extension of 340 hectare and will even be capable of operating seven-four-seven type airplanes.

Among the planned actions are:

1.- A runway directed North-South, with a length of 2825 meters and a total width of 60 meters.

2.- An aircraft platform for maintenance, overhaul and parking.

3.- A long-term aircraft parking field with capacity for 400 aircraft.

4.- A general services building and control room.

5.- A building for fire extinguishing services.

6.- An industrial area with over 33 hectare where related activities can be carried out and which will be connected to the railway network.

The installations have been developed under the concept of maximum functionality, with a 40 million euro investment of public contribution.

In addition to specific airport services, there is a compromise to equip the installations with a Heliport for use by the civil protection and fire extinguishing services. It also includes the potential for other activities such as sport aviation, aerial work Companies, Aeroclub, commercial Aviation and investigation and development.
